EventChatter is live!
June 16, 2009
Today we officially launched EventChatter! The goal of the service is to create a social hub for people attending the same event, and make it easy for others to monitor the conversation taking place. EventChatter aggregates all of the messages on Twitter related to an event, and makes it easy for attendees to join the conversation.
In addition to the chatter, EventChatter also provides a directory of Twitter users attending an event. If you’re attending an event, simply tweet “@eventchatter #hashtag” to join the directory of an existing event, or create and join an event directly from the site. We hope the directory becomes a useful feature for Twitter users.
Since we’re focusing on providing communication tools for event attendees, we expect mobile will play a big role. We’re currently building out a mobile version of EventChatter, and expect to have it ready later this week. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, check out EventChatter, create or join events you’ll be attending, and tweet about EventChatter. We’re still in beta, so expect continuous improvement as we get feedback.
EventChatter will be officially launching soon
May 11, 2009
We’re busy adding features to EventChatter, and plan to officially launch it soon. We’ve received a lot of great feedback from users during the pre-launch beta, so thanks to all who played around with the service.
A few big additions coming: Twitter search integration (for backchannel chatter), a directory of Twitter users attending an event, and a way to join events from Twitter.
Stay tuned…
What’s coming next from EventChatter
April 16, 2009
The goal of EventChatter is to improve how people attending the same event connect and converse. Events provide a natural context for your actions, so our initial goal is to make it as easy as possible to hold a conversation with others in the same context. If you’re using Twitter to express your opinion on the keynote speaker at a conference while the presentation is happening, we want to make it easy for you to get your thoughts into the collective stream and jump in and out of conversations.
Currently, EventChatter lets you join and create events, and pulls in all tweets of people participating that are posted while an event is live, or any tweets of attendees that use the hash tag before or after the event. In the next few weeks we’ll be working on some cool stuff, including:
- A clever way to join events directly from Twitter
- Tools to control how your tweets are fed into the conversation during an event
- A mobile interface
- A conversation widget that can be embedded on your site
- Integration with OAuth, so you don’t need to give us your Twitter credentials
EventChatter is in early beta. We’re working out the kinks and building new features, and we have a lot planned for the service. Our most immediate goal is to get feedback from Twitter users on how we can improve the service to make their lives easier, so don’t hesitate to let us know what you think by commenting, tweeting us at @iameventchatter, or using the feedback link on EventChatter.
EventChatter beta available
April 8, 2009
EventChatter is a new service that allows Twitter users to be a part of conversations around events they are attending, without having to endlessly tag or add keywords to every message.
Rather than holding a private beta, we decided to put up an early beta version and allow anyone to try it out. While we haven’t officially launched or announced anything, the service is up and running.
We will likely launch the service officially in a week once we get the service a tad more polished. In the mean time, enjoy, and we hope this solves a big problem a lot of Twitter users face when attending or participating in the same event.
